Epal Engineering Goes Global: Our Work With The Windsor Workshop In The Press

At Epal Engineering, we pride ourselves on working with each and every client to produce something amazing. From the smallest, most intricate components to large finished products, our wide range of skills, machinery and software means we’ve got it all covered!

You may have previously read this blog post about our work with The Windsor Workshop. In essence, we worked with James Mursell and his company to produce an innovative tool called the Traviscraper. This is a type of travisher, which is a tool used to create the dips in a chair seat in order to make it more comfortable for the user. James found that the travisers currently on the market weren’t quite what he wanted. So, why not produce something better himself, with Epal’s help?

The Traviscraper is designed to make light work of hard woods such as elm, ash, and oak which many traditionally travishers struggle with. The tool became a reality when James had an idea, but needed our expertise to create a prototype for him to use. From there, we worked together to perfect the design. The end result was a tool made out of the heftiest, best-quality materials that’s designed to last a lifetime and perform far better than other tools on the market.

The Traviscraper goes global

Now, we are proud of the work we have done to help bring the Traviscraper to life. It’s even better to see the finished product in action through customers of The Windsor Workshop! James has a loyal customer base, and his tools such as the Traviscraper are very popular. Now, he has even reached an international audience! A review of the Traviscraper was recently featured on Lost Art Press. They are a publishing company and website based in the USA which is dedicated to traditional woodworking and hand-tool skills such as chairmaking. From the site, they sell a wide range of books on various woodworking subjects to customers all over the world. And, they also have a popular blog where they publish a range of pieces including reviews, news, and opinion pieces. One such recent piece is a review of the Traviscraper which you can read by clicking here

We were really pleased to read the positive review of the Traviscraper. It’s great to know that something we helped to design is being used and loved both in the UK and across the Atlantic! We hope that this tool will remain popular for years to come with a reputation for being a solution that’s better than anything else on the market.
